The Last Week of Kindergarten

It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of Kindergarten.  Your little ones are getting big quickly!  It’s been a great year, and I will miss them this summer.  Here are some highlights for the week:

  • The children did great and had fun this morning, but 2 of them got sick after lunch.  I hope no one else gets sick tonight.
  • We had a special treat today.  The Cat in the Hat came and read to the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders.  He was a great reader, but he needs to practice his math.  Ask your child about it.  (Eleventeen is not a number!)
  • We’re going to finish up the Christlight books this week.  Our lessons are “God Brings His People Home” and “Job.”
  • We’ll finish the year with Letterbook Z.  We probably won’t finish every page, but that’s fine.  The children are doing a great job reading.  They can pick a reading prize all the way through Friday, so keep reading this week!  I have plenty of prizes left.
  • Our last 2 “star words” are play and may.  I will send home a list of all we’ve had so they can keep practicing them this summer.
  • If you still have library books at home, send them back.  They did not bring new ones home last Friday.
  • Please note that the kindergarteners will receive a card/diploma at graduation on Thursday evening.  The whole school also sings for the 6:30 service.  We’ll sit together for the service.
  • Friday is the last day picnic.  Remember that we stay all day again.
  • We’ll pack up some of our things on Thursday and some of them on Friday, so please send a backpack both days.
  • Make sure to send a car seat on Friday to go to the picnic.
  • Report card will be in your church boxes on Sunday for members.  We’ll mail them to everyone else.

God bless your summer!

Tuesday

I just want to remind you that the children stay all day on Tuesday.  You can pick them up between 2:30 and 3:00.  Make sure they wear the correct color shirt.  It would also be great to send a water bottle and sunscreen.

God bless your weekend!

May 21-25

It’s our last full week of Kindergarten.  Time flies when you’re having fun!  Here are this week’s highlight:

  • Our Christlight lessons are “Daniel in the Lion’s Den” and “Queen Esther.” (A&B p.23)  We’ll learn the importance of obeying God and trusting Him.  We’ll see that sometimes it could mean we need to stand alone.
  • We’ll work on Letterbook X/Y.  We’ll practice reading X at the end of words. (box, ox)
  • Our “star words” are some and funny.
  • We need to thank Mrs. Plitzuweit for reading to our class last week.  It was fun!  We’ll have a couple of readers this week also.
  • It’s “Summer Birthday Week” this week.  That’s always a good week!
  • Wednesday is chapel and mission-offering; Friday is show-and-tell and library.
  • Remember that next week the children stay all day on Tuesday for the Panther Olympics or Track and Field Day.  Friday it’s all day for our last day picnic.
  • Next week Thursday evening is the graduation service.  It’s main focus is the 8th graders, but the Kindergarten will also get a card/diploma.

God bless your week!

May 14-18

I hope everyone enjoyed the show last Friday.  I thought the children did a GREAT job!  Performing 2 shows is a big deal, and I was very proud of them.  They looked great in their t-shirts they designed and sounded great too.

This week we’ll accomplish a little more school work since we’re done with the show.  I didn’t quite accomplish everything I planned last week, but that’s to be expected when perfecting a show.  Here are the week’s highlights:

  • Our Christlight lessons are “The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace,” and “Daniel and the Writing on the Wall.”  (p.21 of both books)  We’ll talk about boldly telling others about God and His judgement on sin.
  • Originally I had hoped to start Letterbook J last week, but we just started it today.
  • Our “star words” are happy and from.
  • Our focus will be on subtracting, symmetry, and counting by 2s for math class.
  • We’ll be learning a little more about the USA for social studies this week.  We’ve been very focussed on learning our patriotic songs, now we’ll learn a little more about our country.
  • Wednesday is chapel and mission offering; Friday is show-and-tell and library.
  • Thursday we celebrate our Savior’s ascension with a church service at 6:30.

God bless your week.

Entertainment Reminders

I have to apologize because I meant to send this yesterday.  I just wanted to give reminders about tonight.

I have everyone’s t-shirts here, so they can slip them on when they come.  Maybe a tank top would be good underneath, but whatever works for you is fine.  They can wear the t-shirts home.  They also can take their little flag home tonight.

Depending on your early evening, you could send a snack or sandwich for the children.  We’ll be performing at both the 5:30 and 7:00 shows.  We’ll come back to the classroom between shows.

The children should arrive by 5:10 if possible.  I plan on being here by 5:00.

God bless your day!

May 7-11

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  Our field trip to see the Chinese acrobats was fun.  Thanks go out to Mrs. Plitzuweit and Mrs. Britton for driving the class.

We have a very busy week as we practice and polish our Entertainment Night songs and actions.  I’ll share more details at the end of this note.  Here are this weeks highlights:

  • We’ll once again try to cover 3 Christlight lessons-”Jonah,” “Hezekiah Prays for God’s People,” and “Hezekiah Prays for Himself.”  We’ll see that God wants us to share his word with others and that He promises to help us in times of trouble.
  • We’ll finish Letterbook K/Q and begin J.
  • Our “star words” are ten and thing.
  • We’ll be working on time and measurement for math class.
  • Wednesday is chapel and mission-offering; Friday is show-and-tell and library.  Also staying late for the children if it works.

Now here is information about Entertainment Night:

  • The children should stay until 1:35-1:40 on Wednesday if possible.  They can bring a lunch and we’ll eat together before we practice at 12:30.
  • The children colored flags that were transferred onto t-shirts for the performance Friday night.  I’ll plan on keeping the shirts here and they can put them on when they arrive Friday.  If they have something red, white, or blue to wear on the bottom that would be great.  Blue jeans are fine.  The shirt is really the main thing.
  • Remember that the children will be singing for both the 5:30 and 7:00 shows.  We’ll come back to the classroom in between.  Depending on your evening, it would be great to send a snack or lunch for them to eat between the shows.

I hope I’m not forgetting information.  E-mail, text, or call if you have questions.

God bless your week!
